Topic Description: In the context of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria, the social component refers to how organizations manage relationships with employees, customers, suppliers and communities. It is intended to evaluate and demonstrate how an organization contributes to society and treats people both inside and out. For the workplace, there are key aspects that are considered in ESG evaluations including OHS policies and procedures, injury and fatality rates, compliance with regulations and standards, employee engagement, mental health and wellbeing. In this session, we will explore these expectations for success and performance regarding OHS activities. Success can be achieved through programs and controls for identification and management of OHS risks. Performance can be demonstrated through a variety of measures your organization may already have in place that can be leveraged to demonstrate success by the numbers. ISO 45001provides the most recognized framework for achieving success and demonstrating performance. We will explore how to get started, how to improve, how to
demonstrate the value of OHS management systems to drive to meet ESG objectives.

Objectives:

• Explain the role of ISO 45001 and ISO 45003 standards in enhancing
  workplace safety and achieving ESG goals
• Compare physical safety metrics (e.g. LTIFR, TRIR) and psychosocial
  safety indicators (e.g. employee satisfaction, turnover rates) used in ESG
  assessments.
• Develop a plan for implementing employee engagement mechanisms
  and mental health programs in line with ESG workplace safety expectations.
