POSITION: Safety Coach
Shift: Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts which include 4 days on/4 days off and 4 weeks on day shift/4 weeks on night shift.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working in a team-based environment, this position will be responsible for the following:
- Be a resource for safety related questions or concerns, gather input on safety related issues from teammates, and support resolution of those.
- Has a relationship with teammates where teammates will be open to sharing issues. Be an advocate for the operating teams to help with their safety needs.
- Perform daily walkthroughs of manufacturing areas, engage employees, and respond to safety-related requests from areas teammates.
- Develop, track, and analyze incident safety metrics for shift and works with teams to develop action plans based on analysis.
- Observe teammates work practices/procedures to identify both safe and at-risk behaviors. Provide constructive feedback to reinforce safe practices and correct unsafe ones.
- Training and Education: Conduct training sessions to educate teammates on safety protocols, procedures, and the importance of maintaining a safe work environment.
- Assist Site Safety Manager and Site Safety Trainer in communicating/educating teammates on safety initiatives and safety culture improvement plans.
- Risk Assessments: Be a resource for teammates to do real-time informal risk assessments.
- Help Foster Safety Culture: Foster a culture of safety within the organization, encouraging teammates to prioritize safety in their daily tasks and decision-making.
- Documentation and Reporting: Review observations, suggestions reported by their shift. Share summary to area and safety leadership and suggest improvements based on their observations. Help track safety suggestions and status of improvement activities including updating of Area Safety Boards.
- Lead/Help Facilitate teammate safety subcommittees and safety committees on shift.
- Support supervisor on safety related activities. May assist in and/or conduct area safety meetings.
- Participate and/or facilitate area PSSRs, MOCs, Risk Assessments.
- Incident investigations – when an incident occurs, begin investigation, collection of data/evidence, and interviews of teammates involved in the incident (both directly and indirectly). Participate in Root Cause Analysis of incidents as needed.
- Get involved in procedural (CTOPS) reviews and updates from a safety/hazard recognition perspective, including task-related procedures as well as equipment specific LTCT procedures.

- Manage a team of individual contributors responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety and environmental programs, processes and policies to safeguard employees, the general public and to ensure compliance with governmental regulations
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve site-wide EHS programs consistent with the organizations management system and governance.
- Cultivate, promote and continuously improve a “safety first” culture among all site employees”
- Provide EHS advice, support, technical expertise and training to the site employees and departments
- Perform EHS internal audits and manage the implementation of audit recommendations from corporate or outside sources
- Oversee investigation of all EHS incidents/accidents and near-misses including root cause analysis, recommend corrective and preventative actions, and ensure implementation of these actions
- Implement environmental programs that align with the organizations management system
- Provide environmental regulatory and technical expertise on: air quality and emission, wastewater, storm water, along with solid and hazardous waste management
Additional Information:
- Travel is occasionally required, up to 5% of the time.
Safety and Physical Requirements:
- All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding and complying with the safety policies and procedures.
- Wear PPE when appropriate in designated campus areas.
- Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs. on occasion.
- Work a minimum of 45 hours per week

- Proficient computer-based skills including database, spreadsheet, word processing and presentations.

What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in EHS or related field required (i.e., facilities management, safety, sustainability, etc.).

- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S helpful.
- CFM, CSP, or experience in corporate sustainability preferred.
- Advanced PC and organizational skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
